Departments are part of your Organization used in job postings to inform applicants for which department you are hiring. The departments from your library are used to display jobs on your Career Site as well as a metric for reports and filters. Selecting a department is a required job template field selected on a job-by-job basis.
Creating a Department
Use the following steps to create a department in your system.
- From the Admin menu select Organization then Department.
- Click +Create Department.
- Enter a Department Name.
- Click Save to add the department to your library.
Adding a Department to a Job Template
A Department is a required field of the Job Details section in a job template. It's selected during Step #1, adding Information Elements. See more about Creating Job Templates.
Department in a Job Posting
When an applicant opens a job from your Career Site, a job board, or a tracking link, the selected department will appear in the details of the job posting.
A list of departments and the total number of open jobs will be displayed on your Career Site. Applicants can use this to narrow their search to departments that best fit their skill set.
Working with Departments
Department is an Information Element in your hiring system and represents a library of departments that can be selected in a job template. Click the ⋮ menu of an existing Department to Edit or Delete.
Edit: Editing a Department is a good option if you have changes that you would like to use in all future job templates. If the Department was used in templates and/or posted jobs, the changes will be applied to all templates, but the Department in any posted jobs will not be changed.
Delete: Deleting a Department will remove it from the hiring system. Performing this action cannot be reversed. If you attempt to delete a Department assigned to one or more jobs, the system will prompt you to select a replacement Department prior to deleting. The selected Department will be replaced in all locations where it is used regardless of current job status.
